Doing the same thing over and over again
Daily Journal Prompts - 25 November 2024

I hot desk at a co-working space.
It’s pretty fun. I like to travel to different branches, so I nearly always end up sitting next to someone new.
Sometimes, without meaning to, I end up eavesdropping on other people’s conversations.
One particularly taught me a very valuable lesson.
Two co-workers were discussing a strategy to get more clients.
One had prepared a script and a list of leads and planned to spend the day calling each prospect with a personalised call.
The other co-worker disagreed with the approach but was overruled by seniority.
I spent the entire day listening to the first co-worker make around 100 calls without a single call leading to a meaningful discussion. Nearly all said that they were not interested in the service.
But he didn’t deviate from his approach at all.
I was reminded of a quote by Albert Einstein that positively impacted me early on in my career: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
It was a good reminder for me to reflect on my actions.
For example, nearly every time I decide to work on social media content for my businesses in the evening, I am too tired to do it. So, instead of wasting time, I should just do it early in the day.
In what areas of your life are you doing the same?
Today’s Prompts
Reflection-related prompts
In what areas of your life are you repeating the same actions but not seeing the results you want? When was the last time you adjusted your approach?
How do you typically notice when something needs to change in your life or work?
If you had to try a completely different approach to something that is not seeing results, what would it look like?

The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What’s one area where you could seek advice or feedback to improve your outcomes?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
