Episode 100

Daily Journal Prompts - 29 November 2024

Today marks 100 episodes of the Daily Journal Prompts newsletter.

Thank you so much for being part of the ride!

I knew the journaling community was small, and friends warned me of starting a newsletter around prompts, saying it won’t be a worthwhile endeavour.

I persisted because I love journaling.

Selfishly, it has also levelled up the quality of my own journaling. I have spent more time being mindful about the prompts I use. I guess I had become a bit lazy over time.

The journey has not been without challenges, but challenges are just an opportunity for growth.

With a daily newsletter, there is a need to keep content fresh. That’s easier said than done.

Growth started off well but has been slow since I was banned from the Journaling subreddit.

It was my fault entirely. I was posting in a number of subreddits and mixed up the community rules. So, when I posted a link to the newsletter, I got banned and rightly so. The rules must be respected.

That however, has led to new ideas to grow the newsletter, while I concurrently work on a website that I am aiming to make the most comprehensive journaling resource online.

I look forward to next 100 episodes together with you!

Today’s episodes reflects on our journaling journey.

Today’s Prompts

Reflecting on your journaling journey

How has journaling impacted your life over the last year? What insights have you gained about yourself through journaling? How would you like to change or adapt your journaling moving forward?

Reflect on a prompt that made you think deeply. How did it change your perspective?

Write about a time when journaling helped you solve a problem or make a decision.

Get the most out of your journalling:

  • Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.

  • Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.

  • Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.

I’d love your feedback

What was your favourite prompt of the day? Is there any specific challenge you want prompts for? How can I improve the content of the newsletter? Reply this mail and let me know!

Keep growing,
