Why you journal is imporant

Daily Journal Prompts - 28 August 2024

Why you journal is important

You must have read about the importance of having a strong “why” to keep you on track with your goals, even when motivation wanes.

Similarly, having a reason to journal is critical to maximising the benefits you receive.

Are you doing it to document your life journey, express gratitude, improve your understanding of yourself and of life, gain emotional equilibrium, or simply to have a safe space to unravel your thoughts?

Simply journaling because it is good for you isn’t enough. You need a bigger purpose; otherwise, it will become a chore, and you’ll stop. I’ve seen it happen countless times with friends who get excited for a few weeks and then stop.

Personally, I journal to understand myself better and to gain clarity around my life goals and decisions.

What keeps you journaling? Hit reply and let me know!

Today’s Prompts

1 - Personal growth

What’s one way you can challenge yourself in the next month?

2 - Health & Fitness

Regarding your health, what have you been putting off that you know you need to do (E.g., annual check-up)? Why have you put it off, and what is your plan to get it done?

3 - Quote of the day

“If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time.” – Steve Jobs

4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt

How do you feel at this moment as you journal? List one thing that can make your mood even better.

Get the most out of your journalling:

  • Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.

  • Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.

  • Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.

Keep growing,

Suren
