Finding beauty in chaos
Daily Journal Prompts - 21 December 2024
One of the most chaotic experiences in my life was visiting an outdoor fruit and vegetable market in New Delhi, India when I was around 10 years old.
It was situated on the pedestrian walkway next to a main road.
Cars were jostling for parking space, with horns blazing and arguments erupting.
Vendors touting their wares with all the might in their lungs.
You had to pay attention to where you stepped as bricks were laid unevenly, and at least one drain cover was missing.
There are people everywhere. There’s no personal space.
You are sweating because it is hot. Flies buzzing around your face.
And yet, amidst this chaos, there is beauty.
A bystander steps up to sort out the traffic congestion and help someone park their car safely.
The stall owners are warm and welcoming. They help you pick the best quality fruit and vegetables.
A son guided his mother to the side of the open drain. He then saw two wooden planks on the side, picked them up and covered the drain with them.
There’s beauty in everything if we choose to look.
Sadly, as we age, we tend to skim over the beauty. I want to challenge each of you to do the opposite.
Look for beauty wherever you can.

The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What made you smile recently, and why?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
