I've been thinking about Glucose

Daily Journal Prompts - 15 October 2024

Glucose? Yes, that’s right, today’s episode is about Glucose … and it’s not about Glucose.

I recently joined a government-funded research program.

For two weeks, I must wear a glucose monitor and record everything I eat (with a picture) and any exercise I do.

Watching my Glucose levels go up and down throughout the day is fascinating.

I can see correlations between the foods I eat and spikes when I am stressed (we recently found maggots in our dustbin, and I can trace the moment I saw it based on the Glucose reading!)

Thankfully, they are within the acceptable range, but it has made me a lot more aware of the food I’ve been putting into my body.

I am fit (I completed an 18-km run over the weekend), and my recent health checkup showed no problems.

But I am about 15 kg overweight, and it shows.

While that’s not a huge problem, joining the research reminded me not to put off things related to my health and to take action now.

I don’t want to remember it only when something bad happens.

Today’s Prompts

1 - Health

What health-related thing have I been putting off that I know I need to do (E.g. annual check-up)? Why have I put it off, and what is my plan to get it done?

2 - Health

What are my biggest challenges in maintaining a healthy lifestyle? What are five ways that I can try to improve it?

3 - Quote of the day

“Sorry, there’s no magic bullet. You gotta eat healthy and live healthy to be healthy and look healthy. End of story.” – Morgan Spurlock

4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt

What will I do differently today?
