Is this the dream?
Daily Journal Prompts - 8 January 2025
I like this prompt because it is so simple, yet effective:
Is this life the dream life you imagined?
The first time I came across it, I was four years into my first job at a PR agency.
I had started to shine, my clients and colleagues liked me, the hours were manageable, and I was earning a decent salary. Outside of work, I had a good social life and strong relationships.
On paper, it seemed like everything was good.
I can’t remember where I came across the prompt, but I felt a sudden urge to reflect on it the moment I saw it.
At the end of that reflection, I felt depressed.
Firstly, I had no “dream life” to compare with, because I had never really thought long term.
Secondly, I couldn’t imagine doing the same thing forever. I instantly knew this was not the life I wanted long-term.
The prompt is a good wake up call to help you start thinking about where you are today and where you want to go.
If you’re feeling stuck, it should give you some clarity too.

To give yourself a wake-up call
Is this life the dream life you imagined?
Imagine you’re 80 years old looking back on your life. Would this be the life you want to remember?
If you wanted to achieve your dream life within 5 years, what steps would you take each year?

The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What part of your current life feels closest to your dream?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
