- It will rain regardless
It will rain regardless
Daily Journal Prompts - 28 April 2025
I was reading a book called Everyday Stoic and was captured by a simple, powerful quote:
"You can dance in the rain, or sulk in the rain. It will rain regardless."
Life, much like the rain, doesn’t adjust itself to fit our moods, plans, or expectations.
It simply happens — sometimes gently, sometimes with a thunderous downpour.
We often expend a great deal of energy wishing things were different. Wishing it wasn’t raining. Wishing work wasn’t so busy. Wishing circumstances were easier.
But the reality is: the rain will fall, whether you dance or sulk.
The only real choice we have is how we meet the rain.
On this trip to India, I’ve been reflecting a lot on that.
Many challenges popped up — the bank’s system was down, I was using a crutch for most of the trip, I got stuck in endless traffic jams.
Things that would usually frustrate people didn’t faze me.
I could be happy or angry. Neither would solve the situation, but I would only be in a good mood with one of those attitudes.
The rain isn’t personal.
But how do you show up in it? That’s entirely yours.
This week’s prompts (Monday - Wednesday)
Accepting Reality
1 - What situation in my life am I constantly thinking about, even though it’s outside my control?
2 - How would my mindset shift if I accepted that it is, and chose my attitude from there?
Dancing in the Rain
1 - What would “dancing in the rain” look like for me this week?
2 - When was the last time I embraced a tough situation and found joy in it?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
