Model yourself after someone you admire
Daily Journal Prompts - 16 November 2024

I come from a pretty large family.
Both sets of grandparents had more than five brothers and sisters each. I have dozens of cousins, some of whom I have yet to meet!
My grandad embodied simple values: an excellent work ethic, being a good person, loving everyone, getting things done, and being curious.
My dad too lived in the same manner.
Both of them have passed on, but after observing them for years, I feel a good chunk of their spirit has rubbed onto me.
Ever since my dad passed a few years ago, I find myself often saying, “I am a Rastogi,” often when I am struggling or doing something difficult.
Just saying it out loud gives me control. I feel more confident and get an extra energy burst.
Nothing has changed, but just saying those words out loud reminds me of my role models and pushes me to do as they would.
Today’s Prompts
1 - Role models
Who are some people in my life I admire deeply, and why? What qualities do they have that I want to embody?
How would my role model approach the challenges I’m facing right now?
2 - Quote of the day
"You can't be what you can't see. Expose yourself to more role models and diverse experience to broaden your perspectives and ideas.” - Jay Shetty (although with the recent news, we don’t know for sure if it is him!)
3 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What words or phrases remind me of my role models' values?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
