My dad, the quiet influence
Daily Journal Prompts - 7 April 2025
Today is my dad's third death anniversary, and I’ve been reflecting on the quiet, steady influence he had on me.
My dad wasn’t a big talker.
He was a doer.
If something needed to be done, he just got on with it.
He didn’t overthink or overplan.
He simply did what he said he would do.
In that sense, he was a force of nature. Reliable. Unshakable. Focused.
How many of us can say the same?
As a kid, I didn’t always notice it.
But as I grew older, especially now that I’m an adult, I find myself thinking back to his quiet discipline more and more.
There are days when I procrastinate, get distracted, or hesitate about things I’ve committed to.
And then I think of him—how he would have just gone out and done it. No drama. No excuses.
Who in life has shaped you to be the person you are?
Today’s Prompts
1 - Who in your life has had lasting influence on you?
2 - What’s something your parent or mentor did regularly that you now understand or appreciate more as an adult?
I’d love your feedback
