Reflecting on your relationships

Daily Journal Prompts - 12 November 2024

There was a big conference in the city I live in last week, and I got reconnect with a lot of friends and former colleagues from my past banking career.

It’s been about 3.5 years since I’ve left the bank, and my relationships have shifted considerably over the years.

I went from meeting my closest relationships daily to weekly after I left the bank to a few times a year now.

And in my current career path as a solopreneur, I have no coworkers!

For an extrovert like me, this has its downsides — loneliness is a common challenge for solopreneurs.

But it also has its upsides.

I am more intentional about who I spend my time with.

I have time to meet more like-minded people and gain fresh perspectives related to my new career path.

I’m sharing some of the journal prompts I used to reflect on my relationships through this transition.

Today’s Prompts

1 - Relationships

Who are the most important people in my life right now, and why? How has that changed over the last 5 years, and why has that changed?

What boundaries are important to me, and how well do I communicate them? Are there any relationships that feel unbalanced or draining?

What qualities do I value most in a relationship, and how can I meet similarly like-minded people?

2 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt

How can I show appreciation for the people who matter most to me?

Get the most out of your journalling:

  • Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.

  • Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.

  • Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.

I’d love your feedback
