Reset to move forward
Daily Journal Prompts - 17 April 2025
When I joined a startup some years ago, the CEO told me something unexpected on my first day.
He said: “Don’t work late every day. Go home on time. The pace here will be intense — and the last thing I want is for you to burn out.”
He was right. The pace was intense.
But because I honoured his advice.
Looking back, I realise that’s exactly what helped me thrive in that environment.
I was able to reflect on my priorities, process new information quickly, and show up fully each day.
I wasn’t constantly running on fumes.
The world is always telling us to move faster, do more, and keep up.
But real progress often begins with a pause.
In a world that’s only getting faster, we need to find ways to slow it down.
I’ve figured out a “reset” system that works for me:
Pause and think
Connect
Reflect
I’ve included the prompts that I use to reset.
This Week’s Prompts (Thurs - Sun)
Theme: Reset
Pause & Think
1 - What’s taking up too much mental space lately?
2 - What’s one thing I’ve learned recently that I haven’t fully processed?
Connect
3 - Who or what do I want to feel more connected to right now?
4 - What’s something I can do this weekend that fills me up?
Reflect
5 - What’s something I did this week that I feel proud of?
6 - What am I learning about myself lately?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
Let me know what you think of this new format — I’d love to hear from you.
Keep growing,
