Review your year: Work & career
Daily Journal Prompts - 5 December 2024
As part of my year-end routine, I spend a few journaling sessions from mid-November onwards reflecting on the year. This is episode #5 in the ‘Review your year’ series. The previous issues are here.
Our careers, whether working in a company, start-up, running a business, or one-person show, are a huge part of our life.
We spend about half our waking hours working, mostly on autopilot.
We move from one task or product to the next without pausing to evaluate our progress or future direction.
Work isn’t just about productivity and achievements.
It’s also deeply tied to our emotions.
Pay attention to how you’ve felt about your career this year. Were you energised, fulfilled, and inspired—or stressed, bored, and frustrated?
Your emotional reactions can offer valuable clues about what’s working and needs to change.
If you find areas of dissatisfaction, don’t be discouraged.
This entire review is a discovery process to help you better understand yourself so you can hit the ground running in 2025.
Today’s "Year in Review” Prompts
What new skills or knowledge did you gain this year?
How have you evolved professionally?
Did you take any risks or explore opportunities for growth? What did you learn from them?
How did your relationships with your co-workers and boss change? Did it improve or worsen?
What were the top 3 professional highlights from the year?
I’d love your feedback
