Screen time = doom time?
Daily Journal Prompts - 12 March 2025
Last week, I hit a milestone.
For the first time ever, I kept my mobile screen time below 3 hours a day for 6 days straight.
Previously, my record was 4 days in a week.
To be clear, this doesn’t count time spent on my computer as I don’t do “unproductive” activities like scrolling through social media on my computer.
It also doesn’t include gaming, but I usually limit that to weekends, and on weekdays, it rarely exceeds 2 hours total.
So why does this matter?
Because a simple journal prompt two years ago made me realise just how much time I was wasting:
How do you spend your time?
I didn’t like what I saw when I sat down and answered that.
Too much mindless scrolling. Too many distractions. Too little intentionality.
So I made a change.
I started tracking my screen time and introduced more quiet time into my day—whether by reading, going for walks, or just sitting and thinking.
I began reclaiming my time instead of letting my phone dictate how I spent it.
And the results? More focus. More clarity. More space to actually think.
It was jarring at first because you find yourself reaching for your device, but over time it becomes easier.
Once you start tracking it, you start controlling it, and that’s an awesome feeling to have.
So, how do you spend your time? And is it aligned with what matters most to you?
Today’s Prompts
How do you spend your time on an average day? What activities make you feel like you’ve wasted time? How can you make adjustments to your life to spend your time better?
What would your ideal day look like if you had full control over your time?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
