Go and speak with strangers

I recently came across a fascinating study.

The experiment involved asking people to speak with a stranger during their commute to work vs a control group who didn’t.

Before the commute, most people thought it would lead to a less pleasant commute compared with their regular commute.

It turns out that the opposite is true. A simple act of friendliness toward a stranger can positively impact both you and the stranger.

That’s wild!

Being kind makes others feel seen, and that’s something we all need in today’s world.

It’s a reminder that the energy you put into your interactions matters—not just for others, but for your own emotional state too.

There are so many small ways we can show kindness.

Here are the simplest that you can incorporate into your day - such as holding the door open for someone, complimenting someone, offering your seat, buying someone coffee, giving directions, or helping.

Today’s Prompts

1 - Kindness

What is one way I will show kindness to a stranger this week?

2 - Gratitude

What can I do to make a colleague’s day today?

3 - Quote of the day

“What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt

What did you see today that was beautiful?

Get the most out of your journalling:

  • Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.

  • Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.

  • Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.

I’d love your feedback
