To worry or not to worry?

Daily Journal Prompts - 23 December 2024

In my weekend reflections, I picked up on a positive sign of growth.

Some of you know I am producing a board game called Burnout, which launches on Kickstarter in April.

Last week, we received our first-ever business pre-order.

These are important, as they bring an upfront financial commitment, which we can put back into the business to ensure our launch succeeds.

I met the client to finalise the terms and agreement.

The next morning, I summarised our agreement in a whatsapp message and sent it across.

I didn’t hear back for two days.

In the past, I would have been really upset about this — Why isn’t she replying? Is the deal off? Why can’t she say it to me in my face?

But these days, I am more relaxed. If it’s not in my control, I don’t get stressed.

Finally, she replied to apologise. She thought she had sent her response but realised she had forgotten to hit send.

Essentially, I dodged two days of stress and worry about the deal.

Not worrying about things that are not in my control is the one life hack that has had the largest impact on my life.

It takes time to put it into practice, but once you can do it, life becomes easier.

Today’s Prompts

Prompts to worry less

What is something I’m currently worrying about that’s outside my control? How can I manage the stress or stop worrying about it altogether?

Imagine a life where you never worry about what you can’t control. What would it look like?

What are some things I worried about recently that did not happen?

“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” – Kahlil Gibran

4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt

What’s one thing I can do at this moment to feel more at peace?

Get the most out of your journalling:

  • Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.

  • Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.

  • Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.

  • Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.

I’d love your feedback
