Tracking my mood
Daily Journal Prompts - 17 January 2025

At the end of every month, I conduct a life audit, which is a fancier way of saying I rate different areas of life out of 5 (such as family, relationships, work & career, health & fitness, etc).
Invariably, I find there’s always a recency effect where I give more weight to things that happen at the tail end of the month versus the start of the month.
It’s natural. You tend to think more about what you are going through now.
This year, I decided to track my mood daily to get a more accurate reading of my month.
Every day, I rate my day out of 10 and list two or three things that contributed to that rating.
It takes less than a minute and makes reviewing my month easier.
Generally, we don’t think about things we don’t track.
If you want to improve or gain insights about any area of your life, you need to have a tracking plan.
How will you objectively measure progress?
Today’s Prompts
Objectively measuring progress
Reflect on a goal you have not made much progress on. How can you start objectively tracking progress? Outline the system you will use, including how you will track it, where you will track it, how often you will review it, and who you are accountable to.
What’s one area of life where tracking has improved your understanding or performance?

The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What patterns do you notice in your mood over the past week or month?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
