Unlearning and relearning
Daily Journal Prompts - 22 October 2024

Last week, I was building a webpage for a new initiative I’m launching.
It’s been a while since I’ve built a webpage.
So, I went back to the last time I built a webpage (3 years ago) and found an old checklist as a guide of things to prepare for.
These included the website content, SEO components and also things that you would typically find in the footer, such as the privacy policy, terms of use, etc.
I had set aside 3 hours to develop the footer documents. I trawled through similar websites, used their documents as a guide, and put together a draft painstakingly.
I then went on Shopify to add the draft policy for the website preview, and lo and behold, I found that with a click of a button, I could have automatically generated a draft policy and edited it from there.
I felt like a fool, wasting half a day, but I took away a valuable lesson.
We live in a world where we need to continuously unlearn and relearn how things are done.
Technology is moving at a rapid pace.
We have a choice—we can do things as we used to or adapt to the times.
Today’s Prompts
1 - Growth
What area of my life could benefit from unlearning outdated beliefs or methods?
2 - Growth
What is one thing I’ve resisted relearning because it felt daunting or unfamiliar?
3 - Quote of the day
“Half of wisdom is learning what to unlearn.” - Larry Niven
4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
Write about a skill or area of knowledge you want to update or relearn. What steps can you take to begin that process?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
