Wealth beyond the money

Daily Journal Prompts - 2 March 2025

Last weekend, I started working on a new short story idea (more like an Aesop fable) I had while in the shower.

It’s about a character who has become super wealthy ten years out of college.

In college, people used to laugh at him because he was weird, a nerd and awkward.

In a quest to prove them wrong, he sets out to meet everyone who had wronged him.

Through the journey he discovers that he is actually a very poor man.

He doesn’t have a family or partner, so he lacks social wealth.

He is so infatuated with being “better” than others that it has taken over every area of his life, so he lacks emotional wealth.

His drive to outdo others led to sacrificing his physical health, so he now lacks physical wealth.

And it goes on like that.

I’ve always believed that money isn’t everything. It’s why I’ve never chased money during my career.

There are other things in life, as long as you stop and look.

How do you define wealth?

Today’s Prompt

Reflect on what wealth means to you beyond financial assets. Describe a life that feels truly wealthy, considering other types of wealth. How can you aspire to find the right balance of wealth?

I’d love your feedback
