When others can’t relate
Daily Journal Prompts - 6 November 2024
Over the weekend, I attended our annual get-together with a group of ex-colleagues
It’s rare for colleagues to be friends and rarer to stay friends long after everyone has left that job, but we went through thick and thin and stayed in touch.
Out of the entire group, I am the only one who has left the corporate world, having started my solopreneurship business earlier this year.
Sometimes, I feel disconnected when asked what I’m doing.
Some show curiosity, but others seem to drift off once I start explaining my work, as though it’s hard for them to understand why I’d leave a steady salary for something so uncertain.
It’s happened enough times that I feel a bit of doubt and uncertainty creep into my mind when it happens.
But I remind myself: I chose this path because it was right for me. I researched, thought it through, and prepared well for this transition.
It’s natural that others may not relate to something they haven’t experienced.
It’s my journey to navigate, and I need to learn to be better at trusting myself.
Today’s Prompts
Your Journey
What fears arise when I think about others' opinions, and how do I let them go?
Who is a person I admire for taking an unconventional path, and what can I learn from them?

The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
What three things reassure me I’m on the right track?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
