Where do these journal prompts come from?
Daily Journal Prompts - 19 October 2024
Recently, a few of you asked where I get my journal prompts from and how I have time to curate them daily.
I’ve been journaling on and off for most of my adult life. I’ve used most of these prompts at some point and found them helpful.
Sometimes, I encounter interesting prompts that I haven’t worked on or considered.
I’ll add them to a database I’ve built over time and when the relevant topic comes up, I’ll see if I have a better prompt. If not, I’ll include it to the newsletter.
So yes, sometimes I’ll share prompts I haven’t used. I put them in because I think they are better than the prompts I have.
Also, sometimes you will see repeat prompts. While I try and keep track of whether I’ve used a prompt previously, I may miss some.
And sometimes, I intentionally repeat prompts after a certain period of time has passed, because in my experience the same questions often lead to different answers as you grow.
Here are some reflective prompts around relationships that have helped me a lot.
Today’s Prompts
1 - Relationships
Reflect on a meaningful conversation I had recently. What made it impactful?
2 - Relationships
What are three qualities I admire in my closest friend or family member? How can I nurture these qualities in myself?
3 - Relationships
Reflect on a relationship that has caused me stress or anxiety. What steps can I take to reduce this impact?
4 - Mindfulness
Have I been present with my loved ones? How can I improve myself and be more present in my daily life?
5 - Empathy
Reflect on a time when I judged someone quickly. How could I have approached the situation with more empathy?
6 - Reflecting on death
Reflect on a memory I cherish of someone dear who has passed away. What made that moment special?
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
