Who do you think you are?

Daily Journal Prompts - 13 March 2025

We’ve all seen it before—someone gets called out, challenged, or confronted, and the response is a sharp "Who do you think you are?"

It’s usually meant as an insult, a way of putting someone in their place.

But if you take the phrase out of that heated moment and ask it genuinely, it becomes a powerful question for self-reflection.

Who do you think you are?

It’s not an easy question to answer.

It forces you to define yourself, not in terms of what you do or what others think of you, but in terms of who you truly are at your core.

What do you stand for?

What principles guide you?

What are your non-negotiables in life?

Equally important is flipping the question: Who do you think you are NOT?

Just as defining who you are helps shape your identity, knowing what you refuse to be prevents you from drifting into directions you don’t want to go.

Maybe you are not someone who compromises integrity for success or stays silent when something feels wrong.

Both questions help create the boundaries that define you.

So, take a moment to reflect. It’s a great way to build better self-awareness.
