You don't see the struggle
Daily Journal Prompts - 1 January 2025
I don’t enjoy watching interviews with successful people.
Hindsight is 20/20 and when they recount how they became successful, it sounds like everything they did followed some master plan or strategy.
In reality, they pushed hard, struggled, fell off many times, before things finally clicked.
I like interviews that focus on the struggle. That’s real life.
It’s what everyone goes through.
I want to know how they dealt with it. What they learned about themselves. How they came out of it stronger. What they gave up. Where they failed.
Whenever I see someone who has succeeded, I try and fathom what their struggle was.
Take the YouTuber who went viral. You don’t see the 500 videos already published.
The author whose 7th story becomes a best seller.
The business owner who struggled to make ends meet for years before scaling the business.
The athlete who sacrificed everything to make the Olympics.
Give me a story of struggle and I’ll listen to it all day long.
Today’s Prompts
Owning your struggle
If someone could only see your success, what part of your struggle would you want them to understand?
When you think of your biggest struggle, what was the hardest part to overcome?
How do you cope with struggles that feel out of your control?
Quote of the day
"I am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength." — Alex Elle
4 - The 'If you don’t have time’ Prompt
Write five sentences about what struggle has taught you about yourself.
Get the most out of your journalling:
Choose one prompt: Focus on just one prompt each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Be brutally honest: Reflect openly and honestly. This is your safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
Take your time: Sometimes it takes a few days to clarify your thinking. Here’s permission for you to take your time to unravel a prompt and not take on any new ones during that time.
Journal your way: Whether you prefer writing, audio recording, or video, choose the method that suits you best.
Don't stress about streaks: If you miss a day, don't worry. You can always revisit a previous prompt.
I’d love your feedback
